Barry Island 10K
The Lowdown
The Barry Island 10K is an annual seaside road race in Barry, Wales, organized by Run 4 Wales, the team behind the Cardiff Half Marathon and Newport Wales Marathon. The fully closed-road 10K starts and finishes on Friars Road at Whitmore Bay, looping past the Barry Docks Offices, Romilly Park, the Knap pebble beach, and Watch House Bay before a downhill finish overlooking the bay. The 2026 edition was the biggest yet, with more than 4,700 runners across the 10K and junior races; Charlotte Taylor (Bristol & West AC) set a new women's course record of 33:08, and Jon Butler (Swansea Harriers) won the men's race in 30:23. Cancer Research Wales is the event's lead charity partner. Junior events include a 50-metre Toddler Dash for under-4s, a Future Challengers mile for ages 9-15, and a family-friendly 1-mile Fun Run. The 2027 edition returns Sunday, May 16, with online entry via the official site and Let's Do This, including a limited early-bird rate for the first 500 entrants.
