The Lowdown

Boogie the Bridge is Kamloops' largest annual celebration of running and walking, held each spring in Riverside Park along the North Thompson River. Founded in 1998 by Jo Berry and a group of local women under the philosophy that 'Movement is Change,' the event has grown from 62 participants into a community tradition now drawing roughly 3,000 runners and walkers each year, with more than 38,000 total participants and over $1.2 million CAD raised for Kamloops-area charities across its history. Participants choose from the 1K Kids' Mini Boogie, 5K, 10K, or the marquee 21.1K Half Marathon, a fast and flat course that crosses the Overlanders Bridge and follows the Rivers Trail alongside Schubert Drive with scenic views of the North Thompson River. The race-day atmosphere includes live bands along the course, themed water stations, cheering sections, and inspirational chalk messaging. The event is presented by CFJC TV and organized by the Boogie the Bridge Society.
