Caernarfon Half Marathon
The Lowdown
The Caernarfon Half Marathon is a North Wales Championship road race that starts and finishes beside the medieval walls of Caernarfon Castle in Gwynedd, Wales. Organized by Run Wales, the two-lap course is mainly flat with a few short rises and long fast downhill sections, tracing the town center, the Menai Strait coastline, country roads, and cycle paths. Drink stations appear roughly every 3 miles, and every finisher receives a bespoke medal and technical t-shirt. Entry is open to runners aged 17 and over, with a 15-minutes-per-mile pace requirement enforced after the third mile. The race draws local and regional club runners each September, making it a scenic, community-rooted half marathon in the shadow of a UNESCO World Heritage castle.
