Caerphilly 10K
The Lowdown
The Caerphilly 10K is an annual road race organized by Caerphilly County Borough Council with support from Welsh Athletics and Sport Wales, starting and finishing on Crescent Road in the shadow of Caerphilly Castle, Wales' largest castle. The redesigned course removed the hills that previously bookended the route, producing a flatter, faster-flowing 6.2-mile loop through Caerphilly town centre that supports consistent pacing and personal-best attempts, passing landmarks including the town's famous cheese sculpture and the Tommy Cooper statue with castle views throughout. A companion 2K fun run starts at 9:15am, 45 minutes ahead of the 10K's 10:00am gun. The event has grown quickly: the 2026 edition sold out with a record 2,500 10K finishers and 1,200 in the 2K, and Welsh football international Aaron Ramsey, a Caerphilly native, has run alongside BBC weather presenter Sue Charles and elite winner Dewi Griffiths, a four-time defending champion. Local charity Llamau is a featured beneficiary. The 2027 edition is scheduled for Sunday, May 9, with online entry via the KronoSports registration platform.
