The Lowdown
The Charlotte Marathon starts at 525 S Tryon Street in Uptown Charlotte and runs through neighborhoods that include Plaza-Midwood and NoDa. The race is run as the Novant Health Charlotte Marathon, and Novant Health is the title partner. It is a certified Boston Marathon qualifier, and the marathon field is capped at 3,675 runners. Water and Gatorade are offered about every 2 miles, with gels at miles 8, 14 and 20. A half marathon, a half marathon rucking division and a 5K start the same morning, and the Health and Wellness Expo is held the day before at the Charlotte Convention Center. The Charlotte Sports Foundation took over the event in January 2026, and the race benefits Hemby Children's Hospital.
