Chengdu Marathon
The Lowdown
The Chengdu Marathon is a World Athletics Gold Label road race held annually in late October in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province in southwestern China. First held in 2017, the event has grown to attract tens of thousands of runners from over 50 countries and is the first marathon in China to be nominated as a candidate race for the Abbott World Marathon Majors. The course departs from the Jinsha Site Museum and winds through the city's cultural landmarks including Qintai Road, the historic Wide and Narrow Alleys (Kuanzhai Xiangzi), Wangjiang Pavilion, and finishes along Tianfu Avenue. The autumn setting provides mild temperatures and stunning views of Chengdu's blend of ancient heritage and modern skyline. The race also serves as the Chinese National Marathon Championships and is an AIMS full member event.
