CNO Financial Indianapolis Monumental Marathon

The CNO Financial Indianapolis Monumental Marathon is a fall road marathon in Indianapolis, Indiana, held on a Saturday in early November. First run in 2008, it is organized by Beyond Monumental, a non-profit, and ranks among the 15 largest marathons in the United States. CNO Financial Group has been the title sponsor since 2016. Race weekend has three in-person distances: the marathon, a half marathon and a 5K. The marathon starts at 8:00 a.m. and is billed by the organizers as fast and flat, which makes it popular with first-time marathoners and Boston qualifiers alike. The course runs through downtown Indianapolis, its historic neighborhoods and its monuments, and passes the Indiana State Fairgrounds between miles 8 and 9. Runners must hold a 16:00-per-mile pace, and the course closes after seven hours. The race has grown quickly. In 2025 it moved its start line to West Street, drew 17,500 runners from all 50 states and 22 countries across the weekend, and sent more than 6,600 marathoners across the finish. Joseph Whelan set the men's course record of 2:12:29 that year. The expanded marathon field for 2026 sold out in August, the earliest sellout in event history, and limited charity entries remained afterwards. Packet pickup runs at the Health & Fitness Expo at the Indiana Convention Center on the two days before the race. Finishers receive a medal, an exclusive finisher beanie and a short-sleeve performance shirt, plus one complimentary drink at the post-race celebration.
