Cracovia Marathon
The Lowdown
Held annually since 2004, the Cracovia Marathon is Kraków's flagship marathon and the largest spring marathon in Poland over the royal distance, run entirely within the historic city. The 2027 edition is the 24th running. The event has carried different title sponsors over the years — PKO Bank Polski in earlier editions, TAURON for the 2026 (23rd) edition — while the underlying event and organizer (Kraków's ZIS, Zarząd Infrastruktury Sportowej municipal sports authority) has stayed constant, so this record uses the sponsor-neutral canonical name. The 42.195 km course starts and finishes at Kraków's Main Market Square, one of Europe's largest medieval town squares, and loops past the Cloth Hall, Wawel Royal Castle, the "Na Skałce" church, the modern TAURON Arena Kraków, the Father Bernatek footbridge over the Vistula, and the Nowa Huta district, giving runners a mix of Old Town UNESCO World Heritage scenery and 20th-century industrial history. The 2026 edition drew a record 6,669 marathon finishers among entrants from roughly 70 countries, making it one of the most international marathons in Poland, with a 6-hour course time limit and a 9:00 a.m. start.
