Delhi Half Marathon
The Lowdown
The Delhi Half Marathon (commercially known as the Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon) is one of the world's most prestigious half marathons, annually held in October on the streets of New Delhi. Organised by Procam International and first held in 2005, the race carries a World Athletics Label and is AIMS-certified with an officially-measured course. The flat, fast circuit winds past iconic landmarks including India Gate, Purana Qila, and Rajpath, making it a top venue for elite sub-60 performances. The event draws elite Kenyan and Ethiopian runners alongside a mass field of domestic participants and regularly features prize money of up to USD 27,000 for first place in the international elite category, with substantial Indian elite prizes as well. Multiple race categories serve all runners: the flagship 21.1 km Half Marathon, an Open 10K, the Great Delhi Run (5K fun run open to all ages), a Senior Citizens' Run, and a Champions with Disability category. Sponsored by Vedanta Resources since the early 2010s (previously Airtel), the event is marketed as 'the world's most prestigious half marathon' and attracts tens of thousands of participants each year.
