Erfurt Marathon
The Lowdown
The Erfurt Marathon is an annual marathon held in Erfurt, the capital of Thuringia, Germany, organized by ANNAKRAM e.V. since its 2014 premiere; the 2026 edition on September 12 marks its 13th running. The flat, fast loop course starts and finishes at the Radrennbahn Andreasried velodrome, tracing the Gera river and circling the Auernteich lake before weaving through residential neighborhoods and open fields — a mix organizers call a landscape-and-city run. Alongside the full marathon, the event offers a half marathon, 2- and 4-person relay teams, and Nordic Walking, with SPORTident electronic timing throughout. It stays intimate: historical fields run roughly 200 to 300 marathon finishers, well suited to runners chasing a personal best on largely flat terrain. Part of every entry fee is donated to HAUT-NAH, a local children's and youth protection charity, giving the race a community-fundraising character alongside the competition.
