Fjordkraft Bergen City Marathon
The Lowdown
The Fjordkraft Bergen City Marathon is Norway's largest city marathon, held annually in Bergen since 2012. Runners start and finish at Bryggen, the city's UNESCO World Heritage waterfront, and follow a scenic but demanding 42.2K loop through Old Bergen, the hillside paths of Fjellveien below Mount Fløyen, and the waterfront trails around Store Lungeårdsvannet, climbing roughly 569 meters along the way. The event also offers a Half Marathon, a 5K, a 10-leg marathon relay, and a 2K kids' run, drawing around 15,000 participants across all distances, including runners from more than 60 countries. The 2027 edition takes place on April 24, 2027, with entries currently open through TIF Viking, the Bergen sports club that organizes the race; the marathon course record belongs to Norwegian trail star Jonathan Albon at 2:26:20. Fjordkraft, a Norwegian energy company, has been the race's title sponsor since at least 2014.
