Hangzhou Marathon
The Lowdown
The Hangzhou Marathon is an annual World Athletics Gold Label race held each November in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China, first run in 1987 and a full member of AIMS since 2007. The 2026 edition takes place on Sunday, November 1, starting at 7:00 AM from Huanglong Sports Center. The 42.195-kilometer full marathon course links two UNESCO World Heritage Sites, West Lake and the Grand Canal, passing Leifeng Pagoda, Su Causeway, and Lingyin Temple before crossing the Qiantang River on Fuxing Bridge and finishing at the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center; the half marathon finishes at Citizen's Square. The 2026 race expands to a field of 36,000: 22,000 full marathon runners and 14,000 half marathoners. Entry runs through a lottery system, with a new two-stage lottery mechanism for 2026 and a dedicated overseas registration channel for international runners with a valid passport. Full marathon entrants must show a verified prior finish (one full marathon or two half marathons within 24 months). Entry fees are 200 CNY for the full marathon and 150 CNY for the half. The race has previously carried the Geely Auto title sponsorship.
