The Lowdown

The Honda Waterfront Run is Barrie, Ontario's flagship road-running weekend, held along the shores of Kempenfelt Bay on Lake Simcoe. Produced by MultiSport Canada and title-sponsored by Honda Canada Manufacturing since the event's 2010 rebrand (the race itself traces back further as the Barrie Waterfront Half Marathon), it offers a half marathon, 10K, and 5K on the same morning, plus a 5K stroller category and a Kids Fun Run. All distances start and finish near Heritage Park on Simcoe Street, with the flagship half marathon covering 21.1 km on an out-and-back, fast and flat course that hugs the waterfront trail network for lake views the entire way. The 2024 edition sold out with a record 2,221 runners, and more than 800 Honda of Canada Manufacturing associates and family members typically take part alongside the community field. Every finisher receives a Canadian-made medal, and registrants who sign up by mid-May are guaranteed a race t-shirt. Post-race food, free race photos, and a pre-race warm-up round out the morning, and proceeds support local charities. The Honda Waterfront Run has run annually on the first Sunday of June since 2010, making it one of the more established early-summer tune-up races for runners in Central Ontario heading toward fall marathon training.
