ING Night Marathon Luxembourg
The Lowdown
The ING Night Marathon Luxembourg is Luxembourg City's flagship marathon and one of the most distinctive urban night races in Europe. Now in its 20th edition for 2027, the race has grown into the country's premier running event, drawing a record 17,000 participants from roughly 60 countries in its most recent editions. Runners set off at 7:00 p.m. as the sun sets, tracing a 42.195 km loop through Kirchberg's modern skyline, Limpertsberg, Belair, Merl, Hollerich, the Gare district, and the historic city centre before returning to the start. The course mixes asphalt and cobblestone through the Alzette valley and up onto the Kirchberg plateau, with roughly 287 m of total elevation gain that has earned it a reputation as one of the 'lumpiest' city marathons in Europe. Floodlit landmarks, live music stages, and packed crowds along the route create a festive after-dark atmosphere unlike a typical morning marathon, supported by more than 450 event staff. ING has been the long-standing title sponsor throughout the race's modern era, and the event also offers a half marathon, a four-person marathon relay (Team Run), a 5K, junior Minimarathon races, and a wheeled Roll&Run. A six-hour time limit applies to the marathon.
