Jack and Jill's Downhill Marathon
The Lowdown
Jack and Jill's Downhill Marathon is a point-to-point, net-downhill marathon held every summer in the Cascade Mountains near North Bend, Washington, run as part of the Downhill Super Series. Runners start at Hyak Sno Park near Snoqualmie Pass and immediately pass through the two-mile Snoqualmie Tunnel (a headlamp is required) before following the flat, rail-trail Palouse to Cascades State Park Trail down through forested corridors toward the finish near SE Homestead Valley Road outside North Bend. The course drops about 1,300 feet of total descent for roughly 1,000-1,100 feet of net downhill, with no Boston Marathon time penalty, making it a popular course for chasing a Boston or New York qualifying time; the race is USATF-certified and an official Abbott World Marathon Majors Age Group World Rankings qualifying event. First run in 2015, the event has historically sold out and now lets runners choose Saturday, July 25 or Sunday, July 26, 2026 as their race day, each with a rolling 6:00 a.m. marathon start and a 6.5-hour course cutoff. Entry includes bus shuttle service back to the start, a tech shirt, finisher medal, and hydration stations roughly every 2 to 2.5 miles along the route.
