The NLB Ljubljana Marathon is Slovenia's flagship running event and one of Central Europe's best-value marathon experiences, drawing over 21,000 runners from 60+ countries across all distances to this charming green capital. The flat, single-loop marathon course winds past the hilltop Ljubljana Castle, beneath the famous Triple Bridge designed by legendary architect Jože Plečnik, and along the romantic Ljubljanica River that curves through the historic center. Runners pass the Dragon Bridge with its copper dragon guardians, cross through the expansive Tivoli Park, and finish at the elegant Kongresni trg (Congress Square) surrounded by neoclassical architecture. The 2026 edition marks the 30th anniversary of the event. The course holds IAAF Road Race Gold Label status and is an Abbott World Marathon Majors qualifier. October temperatures of 6-15°C are ideal for racing, and Ljubljana's pedestrian-friendly old town, outstanding food scene, and relaxed café culture make it a perfect marathon weekend destination.
