The race typically attracts over 25,000 participants from more than 100 countries, creating an electric international atmosphere. The course showcases Valencia's stunning architecture and Mediterranean charm, starting and finishing near the iconic City of Arts and Sciences. Runners traverse wide, smooth boulevards through the historic city center, along tree-lined avenues, and past landmarks like the Turia Gardens, the former riverbed transformed into Europe's largest urban park. The course record stands among the fastest in the world, testament to its exceptional design. Valencia Marathon has earned its reputation as a "runner's paradise" through meticulous attention to detail, from perfectly paced groups to enthusiastic crowd support throughout the entire route. The city embraces the event with thousands of spectators lining the streets, live music performances, and festive celebrations. As an IAAF Gold Label Road Race and official Boston Qualifier, this marathon represents the pinnacle of road racing excellence in Europe, offering every runner the opportunity to achieve their fastest time in one of the world's most beautiful coastal cities. Participants in the 2026 Valencia Marathon's preferential loyalty period are those with an active registration for the 2025 edition who have not canceled it due to injury, bib holder change, or refund.

Race weekend includes a large runners' expo, pre-race pasta party options through local partners, shorter races and kids' events, and a comprehensive race village with massage and recovery zones after the finish.

All finishers receive a technical long-sleeve shirt and a finisher medal; aid stations (water, isotonic, gels) are frequent—about every 2.5–3 km—and official pacers are provided for common goal times, so plan to use Valencia's excellent public transit early on race morning to avoid parking congestion.
