Marathon du Lac d'Annecy
The Lowdown
The Marathon du Lac d'Annecy is an annual road marathon along the shores of Lake Annecy in the French Alps, held each spring since the late 1970s (the 2026 edition was its 45th). The 42.195 km course starts and finishes at Le Pâquier park in central Annecy and traces the lake's western shore beneath the surrounding mountains on a largely flat route, with roughly 86 meters of total elevation gain. Since 2025 the event has carried title sponsorship from Brooks Running as the 'Brooks Marathon du Lac d'Annecy,' but the sponsor-neutral 'Marathon du Lac d'Annecy' is used here as the stable record name given the recency of that deal; the race is organized by Annecy Haute-Savoie Athlétisme (AHSA) in partnership with Feelingjack. The weekend also includes a half marathon and 10 km (both held the Saturday before the Sunday marathon), a 5 km, and a Nordic walking event, drawing more than 10,000 participants across all distances in 2026. The 2026 marathon was won by Benjamin Polin (2:13:20) and Magali Aureille (2:35:43, her second consecutive title); the next edition is planned for April 2027, with the exact date and registration details not yet published.
