Media Maratón de Buenos Aires (21K)
The Lowdown
The Media Maratón de Buenos Aires, popularly known as the 21K de Buenos Aires, is one of the largest and most prestigious half marathons in Latin America. First held in 1989 and organized by the Asociación Ñandú (Carreras y Maratones Ñandú), it has carried a World Athletics Label since the 2021 edition and draws a record field of runners from more than 30 countries. The fast, mostly flat 21.097 km circuit starts and finishes at Avenida Figueroa Alcorta and Dorrego in the Palermo neighborhood and winds through the city center, passing iconic landmarks including the Planetario Galileo Galilei, the Rosedal de Palermo, the Teatro Colón, the Obelisco and the Casa Rosada. Wave starts at 8:00 a.m. and a cool late-August (Southern Hemisphere winter) climate make it one of the fastest and most sought-after PR courses in the region.
