Nanjing Marathon
The Lowdown
The Nanjing Marathon is an annual World Athletics Gold Label road race held each November in Nanjing, the capital of Jiangsu Province, China. The 2025 edition, run on Sunday, November 16, 2025, started with a wave gun at 7:30 AM from the East Gate of the Nanjing Olympic Sports Center and was the event's debut as a Gold Label race, an upgrade from its previous Elite Label ranking. The 42.195-kilometer course winds through the city past the Qinhuai River and sections of the historic Ming city wall before returning to the Olympic Sports Center. The race is organized by the Nanjing Municipal People's Government together with the Jiangsu Provincial Sports Bureau and the Chinese Athletics Association, with Bank of Nanjing as title sponsor for the 2025 edition (the record is kept sponsor-neutral since Chinese marathon title sponsorships change frequently). The 2025 field totaled 30,000 runners: 24,000 in the full marathon and 6,000 in a companion Mini Health Run, drawn from 194,802 lottery applicants across 60 countries and regions, making it one of the hardest marathon entries to secure in China. Entry fees were 200 CNY for the full marathon, 100 CNY for the mini run, and a 1,600 CNY charity bib option; registration opened July 23, 2025 through a lottery system. The Chinese Athletics Association's published national calendar lists a November 2026 date for the next edition, but as of publication the exact race day had not yet been confirmed by the organizer.
