Nationale-Nederlanden Warsaw Marathon
The Lowdown
The Nationale-Nederlanden Warsaw Marathon is one of Poland's premier running events and has grown to become a significant fixture on the European marathon calendar since its inception in 2013. As an AIMS-certified and World Athletics-sanctioned race, the Warsaw Marathon attracts thousands of runners annually from Poland and across the globe, offering a fast, flat course that has proven popular with both elite athletes seeking competitive times and recreational runners aiming for personal bests or Boston Marathon qualification. The course takes participants on a spectacular tour through Poland's vibrant capital, showcasing Warsaw's remarkable blend of historic architecture and modern urban development. Runners traverse iconic landmarks including the Royal Castle, the Old Town Market Square (a UNESCO World Heritage site), the Palace of Culture and Science, and wind along the scenic Vistula River boulevards. The route's predominantly flat profile, combined with wide city streets, creates ideal racing conditions and has resulted in numerous personal records over the years. The marathon is renowned for its enthusiastic crowd support, with thousands of spectators lining the streets throughout the 42.2-kilometer journey, creating an electric atmosphere that carries runners from start to finish. The race weekend features a full marathon, half marathon, and relay options, making it a true celebration of running in Poland's capital. With excellent organization, professional timing, well-stocked aid stations, and a festive finish line celebration, the Nationale-Nederlanden Warsaw Marathon delivers an exceptional race experience that keeps runners returning year after year.
