Omaha Marathon
The Lowdown
The Omaha Marathon is an annual marathon, half marathon, and 5K held every September in Omaha, Nebraska, organized by the Omaha Running Club. First run in 1975, the race spent decades as a community event before HITS, Inc. took over management in 2013; the Omaha Running Club brought it back under local ownership in 2022, reviving the original Omaha Marathon name after a run as the Heartland Marathon. The USATF-certified course starts and finishes at Miller's Landing on the Omaha riverfront, tracing a rolling route through downtown Omaha with about 443 feet of elevation gain. The Omaha Marathon is a Boston Marathon qualifier, with the marathon capped at a 6-hour time limit (course closes at 1:00 p.m.) and the half marathon at 4 hours. The 2026 edition takes place on Sunday, September 27, with a 7:00 a.m. start; packet pickup is Saturday, September 26 at Millwork Commons in downtown Omaha, and there is no race-day registration or packet pickup. Registration is open, with tiered pricing that rises as race day approaches.
