Prairie Fire Marathon
The Lowdown
The Prairie Fire Marathon returns to Wichita, Kansas on October 11, 2026 as the Fall edition of the Prairie Fire Race Series, presented by Davis-Moore Automotive Group. Launched in 2010, the marathon has grown into a premier urban race that has drawn more than 65,000 participants from all 50 states and 20+ countries over the past 15 years. Runners start and finish at Equity Bank Park and follow a USATF-certified, Boston Marathon-qualifying course through the heart of Wichita, alongside the companion Half Marathon, 5K, and untimed Mayor's Friendly 5K. A companion Spring edition runs each May, and runners who complete both the Spring and Fall races in the same year earn Back-to-Back Challenge finisher items. The race is organized by the Wichita Sports Commission with support from Advanced Orthopedic Associates, ASM Global, Emprise Bank, and Koch Inc., among other local and regional partners.
