Querétaro Maratón 2024
The Lowdown
The Querétaro Maratón is an increasingly popular race that showcases the rich colonial heritage and modern vitality of Querétaro. Launched as a local sporting tradition that has grown over the years into an event that attracts national and international runners, the marathon celebrates the city’s UNESCO-designated historic center and regional culture. Held in early October, the race provides an autumn running experience with typically mild mornings and enthusiastic local support along the route. The course threads through Querétaro’s scenic avenues and historic landmarks, with a route that highlights the Centro Histórico, tree-lined boulevards, and panoramic views of the surrounding hills. Runners can expect a mix of flat stretches and rolling sections, well-supported aid stations, and vibrant crowd energy from neighborhoods and students alike. The atmosphere is festive and community-driven, combining live music, cultural elements and volunteer-driven encouragement that make it appealing for both first-time marathoners and seasoned competitors. The event is AIMS-certified and is recognized as a valid Boston Marathon qualifying course, meeting international standards for distance and measurement.
