The Lowdown

The Shizuoka Marathon is an annual city marathon held each March in Shizuoka, Japan, run on a largely flat, World Athletics-certified course between Shizuoka City Hall and the east exit of JR Shimizu Station, with views of Mount Fuji, Suruga Bay, and the historic Sunpu Castle grounds along the route. The 2026 edition, held March 8, 2026, drew a marathon field capped around 12,000 runners with a 6-hour time limit and roughly 10 checkpoints, alongside an 11.6 km Fun Run, a wheelchair division, and a parent-child division. The organizers have confirmed the next edition, Shizuoka Marathon 2027, for Sunday, March 14, 2027, with entry expected to open in autumn 2026; registration details and pricing for that edition had not yet been published at the time of research, so the figures below carry forward the 2026 edition's confirmed rates. Entry fees in 2026 were JPY 16,000 for the full marathon, JPY 4,000 for the Fun Run, and JPY 2,000 each for the wheelchair and parent-child divisions.
