Tashkent International Marathon
The Lowdown
The Tashkent International Marathon is Uzbekistan's largest running event, starting and finishing at HUMO Arena in the capital, Tashkent. First held in 2019, the race has grown into a World Athletics Label Road Race (since 2022) with an AIMS-certified "A"-category course, and the 2026 edition (the eighth) drew more than 15,000 runners from over 30 countries on April 5, timed to coincide with the Navruz spring festival. Runners choose from the full marathon (42.195 km), half marathon (21.097 km), 10K, 5K, and shorter fun-run and kids' distances, all sharing the HUMO Arena start and finish. The course loops through central Tashkent past major landmarks, and race-week festivities include an opening ceremony and concert at HUMO Arena the evening before the start. Entry for the 2026 edition cost a flat 300,000 UZS (about 300,000 Uzbekistani som) per participant across all distances, booked online through the organizer's ProRun.uz platform, with separate group applications available for corporate and international teams. The event's title sponsor has varied by year (it has also run as the BYD Tashkent International Marathon), so this record uses the event's consistent neutral name. No date has yet been announced for the next edition, expected in early 2027.
