Trinidad and Tobago Midnight Marathon
The Lowdown
The Trinidad and Tobago Midnight Marathon is an out-and-back road marathon that starts and finishes at Queen's Park Savannah in Port of Spain, running along the Priority Bus Route (a flat former railway corridor) to a turnaround near St Michael Road. True to its name, the race begins at 12:01 a.m. so runners cover most of the 26.2 miles in the cool overnight hours before the tropical heat sets in, with an 8:00 a.m. finish cutoff. Organized by the BAFASPORTS Foundation as part of the Caribbean Million Mile Challenge, the event grew out of the long-running Trinidad and Tobago International Marathon (retired in 2024 after 42 years) and relaunched in this midnight format in 2025. It has since been listed on the Abbott World Marathon Majors Global Marathon Calendar, a first for Trinidad and Tobago and the wider Caribbean. Finishers receive a glow-in-the-dark medal, and the closed-road course is supported by hydration stations, race photography, and live steel pan, calypso, and soca music at the finish. Part of the proceeds benefits a children's orphanage.
