The Lowdown
The Berkeley Half Marathon is an annual USATF-certified road race held each November in Berkeley, California, running through and around the University of California, Berkeley campus. The half marathon starts at Milvia Street and Kittredge Street in downtown Berkeley and finishes at Martin Luther King Jr. Way and Allston Street, near Civic Center Park. The course winds down historic Telegraph Avenue, passes through Sather Gate and the Cal campus, continues through North Berkeley and Fourth Street, and closes with a steady climb over the final three miles from the waterfront back to the finish. The race weekend also includes a 10K, a 5K, a Saturday Kids' 1K, and a Sunday Family 1K, plus a Finish Line Festival at Civic Center Park. Biofreeze has served as title sponsor since 2018, and Sports Basement is the event's official retail partner. The Berkeley Half Marathon is a popular fall goal race for Bay Area runners and a showcase of the city's college-town character.
