The Lowdown

The Blaufränkischland Marathon starts and finishes at the Schulpark in Deutschkreutz and loops through the Blaufränkisch wine villages of Neckenmarkt, Horitschon, Unterpetersdorf and Girm. The course is partly flat and partly hilly, with some demanding climbs, and the organizers rate it hard. There are 13 Genussstationen, mostly at wineries, serving local wine, regional snacks, water and grape juice. Classic aid stations with water and iso drinks cover the longer stretches between villages. The marathon starts at 08:30 in Startblock A, and the finish closes at 16:00. Half, quarter and eighth marathon distances run on the same day.
