The Lowdown
The WACHAUmarathon is a point-to-point marathon that runs downstream along the Danube from Emmersdorf to Krems an der Donau through the Wachau valley. The course follows the B3 to Weitenegg, where runners cover a loop, then passes through Spitz on the way to the finish in Krems. It is flat, and the organizers promote it as a course for personal bests. The marathon course holds an AIMS certificate. Twelve aid stations stand along the route, and the 2026 edition drew more than 8,200 runners across all distances. The event is run as the WACHAUmarathon by Brooks.
