Boise Marathon
The Lowdown
The Boise Marathon is a multi-distance road race staged each June in Boise, Idaho, pairing a full Marathon with a Half Marathon, 10K, 5K, and a Virtual any-distance option. The race starts and finishes near Payette Brewing in downtown Boise, with the course tracing the city's canyons, tree-lined neighborhoods, and riverside parks before returning to a festival-style finish. The summer date and early-morning start times (6:04 AM for the Marathon, with the shorter distances following through 8:00 AM) are built around Boise's warm late-June conditions, and the course stays open until 2:00 PM. All finishers receive a medal, and race organizers provide a shirt, swag, and post-race food and drink, with hydration stations stocked with water, sports drink, and gels along the route. The 2026 edition drew strong demand: the Marathon, 10K, and 5K each sold out and closed their waiting lists before race day, while the Half Marathon remained the last distance with a handful of open spots. The event runs independently of Boise's other fall marathons, giving Treasure Valley runners a dedicated early-summer target.
