The Lowdown

The Busan Bridge Marathon is the flagship marathon of South Korea's second-largest city. It was renamed in July 2026 from its previous title, the Busan International Marathon, and is organized by Busan Metropolitan City, KNN, and the Korean Athletics Association with support from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The course starts and finishes at BEXCO Exhibition Hall 1 and is built around three sea bridges — Gwangan Bridge, Busan Port Bridge, and Namhang Bridge — showcasing the city's coastal skyline before returning through downtown Busan. On race day, December 6, 2026, the Full Marathon (42.195 km) starts at 7:30 AM and the 10K road race starts at 8:00 AM, for a combined field of 12,000 runners (5,000 Full Marathon, 7,000 10K). Entrants must be at least 18, and Full Marathon runners must show proof of a previous official marathon finish under 4 hours 30 minutes. December in Busan runs cool and dry, with race-day highs typically near 8°C (46°F) and lows near 4°C (39°F), plus brisk coastal wind off the water.
