The Lowdown
City2Surf is a 14 km fun run from Sydney's CBD to Bondi Beach, held on a Sunday in August and run as the Voltaren City2Surf. The 2026 edition on 9 August had 90,000 registered runners and sold out more than six weeks before race day, the third sell-out in a row. The course starts at Park Street and College Street, drops down William Street, goes through the Kings Cross Tunnel and follows New South Head Road through Rose Bay. Heartbreak Hill comes at the halfway point, then the route turns onto Old South Head Road at Vaucluse, runs downhill along Military Road and finishes on Queen Elizabeth Drive at Bondi. Start groups leave in waves from 7:35am, and the first wave is for Elite, Preferred and Red groups. The next edition is Sunday 8 August 2027, and entries open on a date still to be announced.
