The Europe Marathon (Maratona da Europa) is run in Aveiro, the canal city on Portugal's Atlantic coast, and has been held every year since 2019. The 2027 edition spreads over two days: a 10K on Saturday 24 April and the marathon, half marathon and 5 km walk on Sunday 25 April, all starting at 08:00. The marathon course is flat and fast, with about 146 m of climb, and passes the Aveiro canals, Art Nouveau architecture and the Ria de Aveiro lagoon. It carries the World Athletics Road Race Label, held since 2023, and finishers earn world ranking points. The time limit is 6 hours, with cut-offs at km 23 (12:10) and km 33 (13:30). Runners can also enter the Canals Challenge, which pairs the Saturday 10K with the half or full marathon.
