Fort Lauderdale A1A Marathon
The Lowdown
The Fort Lauderdale A1A Marathon is Florida's marathon along the Atlantic coast, run each February along the scenic State Road A1A on Fort Lauderdale's beachfront. Inaugurated in 2006 and known today as the Publix Fort Lauderdale A1A Marathon under its title sponsor, the race weekend anchors the CELSIUS Fort Lauderdale 5K on Saturday and the Marathon, Half Marathon, Fresh from Florida 6K, and A1A Kids Fun Run on Sunday. The 2027 edition runs Saturday, February 13 (5K) and Sunday, February 14, 2027 (Marathon, Half Marathon, 6K, and Kids Race), starting near the Museum of Discovery and Science at 401 SW 2nd Street and finishing at Fort Lauderdale's South Beach Park on Seabreeze Boulevard. The marathon course is flat and fast, sitting at essentially sea level for its full 26.2 miles with only a few small bridge rises, and delivers miles of unobstructed ocean views along the coastal road. It carries USATF Boston Marathon qualifier certification (#FL23005JK), making it a popular late-season BQ attempt for East Coast runners. Race weekend includes the Publix Health & Fitness Expo for packet pickup at the Broward County Convention Center, hydration stations roughly every 1 to 1.5 miles, chip timing, and free shuttle service between the start and finish areas. The 2026 marathon drew 738 finishers, with total participation across all race-weekend distances numbering in the thousands.
