The Lowdown
The Fort Smith Marathon is a spring road race in Fort Smith, Arkansas, on the Arkansas River. The marathon and half marathon both start and finish at the River Front Pavilion. The marathon course runs through historic downtown, residential neighborhoods and paved riverside trails, with rolling terrain and a few significant climbs and descents. The half marathon follows the marathon route, turns off around mile 7.5 and rejoins it at mile 9 for the run back to the finish. The weekend also has a 5-leg marathon relay and a 2-leg half marathon relay. Entries are capped by medal inventory: 150 in the marathon, 450 in the half marathon and 200 across the relays. Prices rise in steps as race day approaches, with the next increase after October 31, 2026. The 2027 edition is the second year of the four-year Landmark Medal Series.
