Irish Life Frank Duffy 10 Mile
The Lowdown
The Irish Life Frank Duffy 10 Mile is an annual road race held each August in Phoenix Park, Dublin, named after Frank Duffy, the longtime race director who helped shape the Dublin Marathon and its wider race series. It is the second event of the year in the Irish Life Dublin Race Series, run after the Fingal 10K in July and ahead of the Dublin Half Marathon in September and the Dublin Marathon in October. The loop course starts on Chesterfield Avenue, the tree-lined main avenue through Phoenix Park - one of Europe's largest enclosed city parks - and heads out via Mountjoy Cross, Ordnance Survey Road, Knockmaroon Road, Upper Glen Road and Military Road before climbing to Wellington Road. Runners pass the Phoenix Monument and Castleknock Gate before returning along Chesterfield Avenue to finish on Furze Road. The route is described as rolling hills, with most of the climbing concentrated in the closing miles. The race has become one of Ireland's most competitive 10-mile road events: the 2026 edition sold out with more than 5,000 entrants, and recent fields have produced upwards of 3,600 finishers, from club athletes to first-time racers. No parking is permitted inside Phoenix Park on race morning; shuttle buses run from nearby Parkgate Street. The 2026 edition took place on Saturday, 15 August, and the race has run on the third Saturday of August in recent years (16 August 2025, 15 August 2026). The Irish Life Dublin Race Series confirms 2026 is sold out and invites runners to "join us in 2027," so this record reflects a projected next edition; the organisers have not yet announced the exact 2027 date or entry price.
