Jakarta International Marathon

The Lowdown

The Jakarta International Marathon (JAKIM) is Indonesia's largest running event, held annually in the capital since 2013. The race has changed title sponsors several times over the years — starting as the PLN-backed Electric Jakarta Marathon, later rebranding as Jakarta Run, and now running as the BTN Jakarta International Marathon under state bank Bank Tabungan Negara (BTN). The marathon and half marathon start at Monumen Nasional (Monas) and finish at the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) jogging track, with the route passing landmarks including the Istiqlal Mosque, Jakarta Cathedral, and the historic Fatahillah Square in Old Batavia. The event is a World Athletics Elite Label Road Race with AIMS/World Athletics course certification. Because of Jakarta's tropical heat and humidity, the marathon starts before dawn and enforces a 7-hour cutoff. The 2026 edition, held June 13-14, drew more than 45,500 runners from 52 countries, including 1,012 international participants, a record for the event. Robi Syianturi won the men's national marathon title in 2:27:58, pausing briefly at kilometer 14 to complete a dawn prayer before finishing first, while Isania Tarigan took the women's national title in 3:08:47. Registration for the 2026 edition has closed, and organizers have not yet announced a date for the next edition.
