Newcastle-Gateshead Marathon
The Lowdown
The Newcastle-Gateshead Marathon is a fully closed-road race through England's North East, organized by RunThrough Events with charity partner Bubble Foundation. Starting and finishing on the track at Gateshead International Stadium, the North East's only World Athletics-standard venue, the course loops along the River Tyne through both twin cities, taking in the Gateshead Millennium Bridge, the BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, The Glasshouse International Centre for Music, and the historic Tyne Bridge and Swing Bridge before returning to the stadium for a track finish. It runs alongside a half marathon, 10K, and junior races, drawing local running clubs such as Gateshead Harriers and support from Science in Sport and BBC Radio Newcastle. The next edition is scheduled for Sunday, May 2, 2027, with roads open from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Registration is open, with tiered Super Early Bird, Early Bird, and standard entry pricing through the official RunThrough site.
