The NN Marathon The Hague debuts on Sunday, November 1, 2026, as the newest addition to the Dutch marathon calendar. Backed by title sponsor Nationale-Nederlanden (NN Group) and organized in partnership with the City of The Hague, the inaugural edition transforms the Malieveld — the city's central park and traditional rallying point — into the start and finish of a citywide sports festival. Olympic sailing champion Marit Bouwmeester serves as event ambassador for the launch. Alongside the marathon, race weekend includes an NN The Hague 10K, an Asics x Passa 5K, business team races, kids runs, and an inclusive NN The Hague 4ALL category for participants with disabilities, plus a charity partnership with KWF (Run against Cancer) that lets runners raise funds for cancer research in exchange for entry.
The marathon course links The Hague to the neighboring Westland region, running through city neighborhoods and Zuiderpark before tracing the coastline between Kijkduin and Scheveningen. From there the route heads inland through the characteristic village centers of Kwintsheul and Honselersdijk and Westland's expansive greenhouse horticulture area, before returning to the Malieveld for the finish. Organizers describe the route as fast and easy to follow, with wide roads and open countryside offering runners plenty of room to find their own pace; as a low-lying coastal course through the Netherlands, it is largely flat, though sea air and open stretches near the coast can bring wind into play. As an inaugural edition, the event has not yet applied for AIMS or World Athletics certification and is not currently a Boston Marathon qualifier.
