Perth Marathon

The Perth Marathon is the main race of the Perth Running Festival, held in October. It starts and finishes at Optus Stadium in Burswood. The course runs through Burswood Park and along the Swan River, and it is flat. Runners finish inside the stadium, on the field. The course is AIMS-accredited. The 2026 race is the Western Australian State Marathon Championship. Its results count toward the Abbott World Marathon Majors age-group world rankings. Perth is a sister race of the Kagoshima Marathon in Japan. The marathon starts at 6:00 a.m. The time limit is seven hours, and there are 13 aid stations between 4.6 and 41.5 kilometres. Runners must be 18 or older. The festival also has a half marathon, a 10-kilometre run and walk, and a 4-kilometre dash. The 10-kilometre race is the only one that starts elsewhere, at Langley Park, and it also finishes at the stadium. Every category of the 2026 festival sold out.
