The Lowdown
The Phoenix Turkey Trot is a Thanksgiving morning tradition held at Wesley Bolin Memorial Plaza in downtown Phoenix, Arizona, steps from the Arizona State Capitol. Runners and walkers choose from a 10K, a 5K Run & Walk, a 1 Mile Gobbler Dash, and a Tot Trot for children ages 6 and under, all starting and finishing at the plaza on a flat course through the downtown core. Every registered participant across all four events receives an event T-shirt and a finisher medal, and the race hands out age-group awards through 16 divisions from ages 1 to 80-plus. The event benefits Paws for Youth, a local nonprofit that brings pet therapy programs to underserved children and teens in Title I schools, shelters, and treatment centers. Costume contests add to the holiday atmosphere for both kids and adults. Packet pickup runs in the days before the race at Sole Sports locations in Scottsdale and Tempe, with race-morning pickup also available on-site. Registration for the 2026 edition, on Thursday, November 26, is open online through Race Roster.
