Rehoboth Beach Seashore Marathon

The Rehoboth Beach Seashore Marathon is a fast, flat coastal race organized by the Seashore Striders Running Club, a nonprofit founded in 1988 that serves the Rehoboth Beach and Lewes, Delaware running community. Held on the first Saturday of December, the race pairs a full marathon with a half marathon on the same morning, starting at Rehoboth Avenue and the Bandstand in the heart of town and finishing on 4th Street behind Rehoboth Beach Running Co. The route winds through the beach town's quiet off-season streets and along Cape Henlopen State Park, giving runners ocean views without the summer crowds. The marathon carries a 7-hour time limit, with a 16-minute-per-mile pace required through mile 18. Proceeds support local youth and community programs, including Girls on the Run Delaware, the Seashore Striders Youth Cross Country Team, the Delaware Kids Fund, Friends of Cape Henlopen State Park, and The Surfgimp Foundation. Now in its 19th year, the event has become a low-key, community-driven alternative to big-city December marathons, popular with runners chasing a flat late-season finish or a final long run of the year.
