Two Cities Marathon
The Lowdown
The Two Cities Marathon is a Boston-qualifying road race held every November along the border of Fresno and Clovis in California's Central Valley, presented by CalViva Health. Now in its 18th year, the event—commonly known as 2CM—celebrates the shared spirit of the two neighboring cities, drawing nearly 5,000 runners across four distances: 5K, 10K, half marathon, and full marathon. The USATF-certified marathon course was redesigned in 2021 to be scenic and largely flat, with a long uphill grade in the final eight miles, and both start and finish at Clovis Community College. Runners chasing a Boston Marathon or Olympic Trials qualifying time have historically found the course fast, with roughly 8-9% of recent marathon finishers hitting BQ standards. Race weekend includes a health and fitness expo, and every finisher—regardless of distance—receives a technical shirt, hoodie, medal, hot breakfast, complimentary beer, and live entertainment at the finish festival.
