Ukrop's Monument Avenue 10K
The Lowdown
The Ukrop's Monument Avenue 10K is Richmond, Virginia's marquee road race, run each spring along the historic, tree-lined median of Monument Avenue in the city's Fan District. First held in 2000, it has grown into the fourth-largest 10K in the nation, drawing close to 27,000 runners and walkers in 2026, and it hosts the Collegiate Running Association's 10K Road Race National Championships. The flat, fast course starts near Broad Street and Harrison Street and finishes near Franklin Street and Laurel Street, passing grand Gilded Age homes, more than 30 live bands and DJs, and dense crowds of spectators the whole way. Race weekend also features the Atlantic Union Bank 10K Mini for young runners, a 20K Challenge that pairs a virtual leg with the in-person 10K, and a post-race festival at the finish. Proceeds benefit the VCU Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center and Sports Backers' Kids Run RVA youth programs. Originally sponsored by the regional Ukrop's grocery chain, the race has kept its founding name even as Kroger stepped in as presenting sponsor.
