The Lowdown

The Winter Marathon Leeuwarden is a December road marathon in Leeuwarden, Friesland, first held in 2022 and organised by Valk Event Productions. The fifth edition takes place on Saturday 19 December 2026. The point-to-point course starts on the Harlingertrekweg and heads northeast along the water, then follows the bike path beside the Rypsterdyk through Skingen, Slappeterp, Ried, Peins, Franeker, Zweins and Dronrijp. It returns along the Van Harinxmakanaal to the finish in Leeuwarden. Half marathon, 16K, 10K, 7.5K, 5.5K and kids runs start the same day. All adult distances for 2026 are sold out, and the organiser points entrants to the Atleta dashboard for official resale. The entry fee includes a named bib, chip timing, a metal medal, showers and a personal action photo.

Sold-out entries can only be bought through the official Atleta resale page.
Eligibility: The event is open to all ages.
Required Documents: A valid ticket is required for entry.
Entrants with a foreign address must collect their start pass in person.
Cancellation & Refund Policy: Cancelling an entry gives no refund of the entry fee.
Entries can be transferred to another person until 1 November 2026 at 12:00, at the entrant's own risk.
