How runners use this tool

  • Lock in goal splits for your next marathon or half marathon.
  • Embed the calculator on your coaching site or blog to help athletes plan.
  • Dial in training paces that match your target finish time.

How to Use This Calculator

Enter your target finish time for any standard race distance and the calculator instantly converts it into per-mile and per-kilometer pace splits. You can also enter a custom distance if you are running an ultra or a non-standard event. The split table shows cumulative times at each mile marker so you can build a pacing band or program your watch with target splits. Results can be shared via link or copied as text for your training log.

How Pace Is Calculated

Pace is simply your total finish time divided by the race distance. For a marathon (26.2188 miles), a 4:00:00 finish means 240 minutes / 26.2188 = 9:09 per mile. The calculator also converts to metric pace (minutes per kilometer) by dividing total time by the distance in kilometers. Projected finish times for other distances use a linear extrapolation of your pace, which works well for even-split strategies but does not account for the physiological cost of longer distances. For distance-adjusted predictions, use the Race Time Predictor which applies the Riegel formula.
