The Lowdown

10K Valencia is a World Athletics Label road race held every January in Valencia, Spain, on a flat urban loop along the old Turia riverbed between the Pont de Fusta and the Pont de l'Assut de l'Or. First held in 2009, it has grown into one of the fastest 10K courses in the world and is a member of the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS). Kenya's Rhonex Kipruto set the men's world 10K record here in 2020 (26:24), and Kenya's Agnes Ngetich set the women's world record in 2024 (28:46).

The January 2026 edition, its 18th, sold out with a record 16,000 registered runners, and Sweden's Andreas Almgren (26:45) and Great Britain's Eilish McColgan (30:08) both broke the men's and women's European records on the course that day.

Registration for the January 10, 2027 edition, the 19th, opened on February 10, 2026 and passed 10,000 sign-ups on its first day; only about 1,000 of the 16,000 available bibs remained by mid-September 2026. Entry is tiered by registration order, from 15 EUR for the first 5,000 bibs up to 25 EUR for the last 1,000, plus a mandatory 4 EUR daily license for runners not affiliated with a Spanish athletics federation. A companion 5K race, capped at 2,500 runners, is held the same morning.

10K Valencia is a distinct event from the Valencia Marathon, held by the same city sports foundation on its own date each year; the 10K opens Valencia's road-race calendar in January, while the marathon closes it in December.
