TECH 10K Barakaldo

TECH 10K Barakaldo is an urban road race through Barakaldo, in Spain's Basque Country, organized by Club Atletismo Barakaldo. The RFEA-certified 10K circuit starts and finishes on Avenida de la Ribera, in front of the McDonald's, with free parking nearby at Megapark and changing facilities at Polideportivo Gorostiza. The same event also offers a 5K on the same circuit, children's races for ages 4-14, and a wheelchair-adapted race.

The race launched in 2016 and traditionally ran on the first Sunday of October until its planned 2023 (9th) edition was cancelled just 72 hours before the start, because Osakidetza (the Basque public health service) judged it incompatible with a large civil-service exam it was holding at the same BEC venue. Since 2024 the event has run on the first Sunday of March instead: March 3, 2024; March 2, 2025; and March 1, 2026 for the 11th edition. That 2026 edition set a new attendance record with more than 1,150 registered athletes across all distances, up from about 350 at the 2016 debut, and its 5K race doubled as the official Euskadi (Basque Country) Regional Road Championship for that distance. A children's solidarity race raises money for Duchenne Familia Mugimendua, an association supporting families affected by Duchenne muscular dystrophy; non-runners can contribute the same way by buying a symbolic "dorsal 0" bib. Tech is the race's title sponsor, alongside El Correo, Kaiku, Megapark and Laboral Kutxa.

The organizers had not announced the 2027 edition's date or entry price at the time of writing; this record projects March 7, 2027 from the confirmed first-Sunday-of-March cadence of the three most recent editions.
