10K Bilbao

10K Bilbao is a flat, RFEA-certified road race through central Bilbao, in Spain's Basque Country, organized by the Bilbao Atletismo Santutxu club with the Bilbao City Council and title sponsor Rural Kutxa. The course starts and finishes at Paseo del Arenal, next to the Teatro Arriaga, and follows both banks of the Ría de Bilbao past the Ayuntamiento, Campo Volantín, the Deusto Bridge, the Guggenheim Museum footbridge, and Euskadi and Moyúa squares before returning to the Arenal. Wide, traffic-closed lanes make it one of Spain's fastest 10K courses. A separate children's programme (650m-1,200m, ages 7-16) runs earlier the same day.

The race launched in March 2025 and doubled that year as the Spanish 10K Road Championship, drawing about 3,500 popular runners alongside 1,000 championship athletes and 1,000 children; Carla Gallardo (31:59) and Jesús Ramos (28:20) won the national titles. The second edition, held March 7, 2026 in a new evening time slot, filled its 5,000-bib field with runners from 61 countries and 49 Spanish provinces (40% women, over 1,000 under 16) and produced new course records: Swiss runner Dominic Lobalu (27:36) and Ethiopian Asayech Ayichew (30:01), in cool, dry 11C conditions. The third edition, 10K Bilbao Rural Kutxa, is set for Saturday, March 6, 2027, on the same course, with registration open and capped at 5,000 bibs.

Entry costs EUR 22 as of September 2026 (EUR 19 for the first 1,000 entries or through August 31, 2026; rising to EUR 25 from January 1 through February 28, 2027, or once the 5,000 bibs sell out). The race has a 90-minute time limit, with a 45-minute cutoff at the 5K checkpoint; entrants must be at least 16.
